Romanian citizens traveling to Israel for tourism do not require an entry visa for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
However, starting January 1, 2025, Romanian citizens wishing to enter Israel must hold an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL).
What is the ETA-IL – Electronic Travel Authorization?
The ETA-IL is a digital travel authorization that can be obtained exclusively online through the platform provided by the Israel Population and Immigration Authority (IPIA): https://israel-entry.piba.gov.il/.
Travelers encountering technical difficulties during the application process may request support via email at eta@piba.gov.il.
Who needs the ETA-IL – Electronic Travel Authorization?
All Romanian citizens will require an ETA, except for those traveling on diplomatic or service passports.
How much does it cost and what is the validity of the ETA-IL?
The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) costs 25 NIS (approximately 33 RON) and can be paid by credit/debit card on the online platform provided by the IPIA.
The authorization is valid for 2 years from the date of issue or until the passport expires. However, it must be renewed if there are changes regarding your name, gender, citizenship, passport details, etc.
Entry Conditions for Israel
Holding a valid ETA-IL does not guarantee entry into the State of Israel; the final decision to permit or deny entry is made by the Israeli authorities at the border crossing. For travels other than tourism (work, studies, business visits, medical treatments), Romanian citizens must obtain an entry visa in advance.
The passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the intended date of entry into Israel.
